Essex Highways, a partnership between Essex County Council and Ringway Jacobs, manages one of the UK’s largest highway networks. In this role, you will help deliver high-quality highway services, support planned works, and contribute to the strategic goals of the Essex Highways contract.

As an Asset Network Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and functionality of the multiple network layers that underpin the planning, maintenance, and development of Essex’s highways infrastructure.

This role is central to the delivery of a first-class service to customers and the achievement of Essex Highways' strategic goals. You will support the delivery of planned works and services, and contribute to continuous improvements that align with the long-term vision and priorities of the Essex Highways contract.

You’ll be responsible for managing key highway network data, providing analysis and insights to support asset management, and driving improvements to ensure data accuracy and service excellence.

The Role

  • Manage and maintain highway network layers within asset management systems, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility across service areas.
  • Provide training and expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Uphold data entry standards and actively promote the importance of data accuracy.
  • Support timely and professional responses to queries and complaints, contributing to team performance and service targets.
  • Develop and improve systems for capturing and analysing management information to identify key areas for further investigation.

About You

  • Educated to A-Level standard (or equivalent) with GCSE Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with data, understanding its sources, and interpreting digital mapping.
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritise workload to align with business needs.
