Overview

This role will be based on the university campus with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

About the University and Facilities Directorate

The University of Leeds has a large and diverse estate portfolio incorporating academic, teaching and clinical space, student accommodation (in excess of 8,500 beds), residential property, farms, retail and other land holdings. The portfolio exceeds 6 million square feet, 1,100 acres and has an insured replacement value of £2.5 billion. It is largely freehold and comprises buildings dating from the 18th century with large elements of 1960s architecture through to many modern buildings, particularly following an extensive capital programme. The Facilities Directorate is committed to providing first class facilities and fit for purpose high quality buildings across the University’s physical environment.

This role is based in the University’s Facilities Directorate (FD), a large service with 1,100 staff, responsible for the development and maintenance of the University estate, commercial and campus support services, residences and sustainability services. Our aim is to provide first-class services to staff, students and visitors supporting the University’s strategic objectives and world class aspirations. With our three-year business plan entitled ‘Our Way Ahead’ the Facilities Directorate is focusing on building communities, both within the service and across the wider University and beyond.

Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking to appoint an Asset Manager to support the University’s Head of Asset Management in the Asset Management Team that has responsibility for the strategic day to day management of the University’s freehold and leasehold property portfolio. You will provide professional and specialist advice to the Head of Asset Management whilst undertaking a varied workload covering all matters relating to Estate Management. You will be involved in a wide variety of surveying work but with an emphasis on residential property and student residential accommodation in particular; this will keep your days varied and interesting, enabling you to gain a wide breadth of knowledge and experience.

Qualifications

You will have a relevant degree (e.g. Surveying) or equivalent professional qualification or relevant experience. Ideally you will be a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management or Chartered Institute of Housing. Surveyors who are working towards their APC would be considered and supported.
