This is a high-profile leadership role with responsibility for shaping investment priorities, supporting regulatory submissions and building confidence in how we justify funding that maintains the reliability, resilience and performance of Great Britain's electricity transmission network.

  • Develop and maintain risk and value-based investment portfolios, balancing asset performance, network risk and customer value.
  • Use asset data, lifecycle insights and analytical tools to identify priorities and optimise investment across multiple asset groups.

  • Proactively build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Asset Management, Engineering, Operations and external regulatory bodies.
  • Provide assurance, confidence and transparency across investment decision-making processes and supporting evidence.
  • Help shape a new strategic capability that will transform how asset investment decisions are developed, prioritised and justified across the business.

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience in asset management, asset strategy or investment planning within utilities, energy, infrastructure, water, gas, transport or similarly asset-intensive sectors.
  • A strong understanding of risk-based asset management and the use of whole-life cost, cost-benefit and value optimisation techniques to support investment decisions.
  • Experience developing business cases, investment justifications or regulatory submissions that secure funding for major asset programmes.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance performance, risk, cost and stakeholder outcomes.
  • Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary professional teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and challenge at senior levels across complex organisations.
  • A degree in an engineering, STEM, economics or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution.

It would be beneficial if you also have:

  • Experience working within a regulated utility environment.
  • Knowledge of electricity transmission assets and associated asset intervention strategies.
  • Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Knowledge of Network Asset Risk Metric (NARM) methodologies.
  • Experience engaging with economic regulation, price control submissions or regulatory funding mechanisms.
