Job summary

National Gas seeks an Asset Data Analyst to shape investment decisions across the UK gas transmission network. You will use data and analytical models to provide evidence and insights that support safe, reliable network operations and future energy ambitions.

Join a team collaborating with Asset Management, Engineering, Investment and Operations to turn complex data into practical recommendations for business planning and regulatory commitments.

Qualifications

• Degree in mathematical, science, engineering or economics discipline.
• Experience in analytical, modelling or data-driven roles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Advanced Excel capability.
• Experience with asset risk modelling or investment modelling.
• Understanding of asset management principles.
• Experience working in a regulated environment.
• Knowledge of Python, VBA, SQL or similar analytical tools.
• Experience with Copperleaf or AIM platforms.

Responsibilities

• Support development and improvement of asset risk and investment models across the Gas Transmission network.
• Deliver analysis, scenario modelling and optimisation studies for investment planning.
• Improve modelling tools, methodologies and performance measures.
• Validate asset data and link asset condition, risk and investment needs.
• Provide evidence-based insight for regulatory reporting and asset management activities.
• Collaborate with technical and commercial teams to align modelling outputs with priorities.
• Support investment case development to maximise network value and performance.

What you’ll be doing

• Support the development and improvement of asset risk and investment models across the Gas Transmission network

• Degree, or equivalent qualification, in a mathematical, science, engineering, or economics-related discipline
• Experience in analytical, modelling, or data-driven roles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Advanced Excel skills
• Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into meaningful insights
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with a range of stakeholders
• Degree, or equivalent qualification, in a mathematical, science, engineering, or economics-related discipline
• Experience in asset risk modelling, investment modelling, or optimisation techniques
• Understanding of asset management principles
• Experience working within a regulated environment
• Knowledge of Python, VBA, SQL, or similar analytical tools
• Experience with Copperleaf, AIM, or similar decision-support platforms
