Job summary

SSE plc's SSEN Transmission unit seeks an Asset Policy and Strategy Manager to provide risk-based assurance of the Asset Management System. You will lead the internal audit programme, coordinate external certification audits, and guide senior stakeholders on assurance matters, ensuring activity is evidence-led and aligned with key risks.

A professional qualification in audit/assurance/risk and a Lead Auditor credential are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience managing audit programmes in complex asset-intensive organisations.
• Experience overseeing external certification audits and provider relationships.
• Professional qualifications in audit/assurance/risk or asset management; Lead Auditor qualification or equivalent.
• IAM qualification or professional membership advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Assurance function within Network Strategy and Assurance, setting priorities and standards, managing team performance, resources and workload, and developing auditor capability through coaching, professional development and succession planning.
• Own and maintain the Asset Management Internal Audit Procedure and the Asset Management System Review, Assurance & Development Strategy.
• Develop and deliver a risk-based Asset Management internal audit programme aligned with the ISO 55001 certification cycle, overseeing the full audit lifecycle and escalating significant issues.
• Act as the principal contact for external ISO 55001 certification audits, coordinating the certification body, audit scope, schedules, evidence, site visits and stakeholder preparation.
• Direct assurance reporting and corrective-action oversight, identifying systemic risks and improvement opportunities, coordinating with Risk and Assurance and Group functions, and take responsibility for the Directorate’s annual Letter of Assurance return.
