At National Gas, the work we do matters.

As Britain's national gas network, we help keep the lights on, businesses running, and homes warm by maintaining the critical infrastructure that transports gas across Great Britain. While providing the energy security Britain relies on today, we're also helping transform the network for a clean energy future.

Join us and help secure Britain's energy.

About the Role

We are navigating through an exciting time as we evolve to meet net-zero targets for 2050. Building our Asset Management Plan (AMP) will put you at the forefront of evolving the UK’s gas infrastructure to meet these targets and continue to meet the needs of our customers and wider UK security of supply.

What You'll Do

  • Translating strategic objectives into robust, deliverable investment plans, particularly supporting the hydrogen transition and future asset needs in line with asset management principles.
  • Conducting whole-life cost analysis and engineering justification to underpin investment decisions and regulatory submissions.
  • Provide clear, evidence-based communication of investment decisions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identifying and delivering improvement projects to contribute to a step-change in our Asset Management maturity.
Why this role matters

This role sits at the heart of shaping the future of the UK's gas network. By developing long-term investment plans, supporting the transition to hydrogen, and ensuring critical infrastructure remains safe, reliable and fit for the future, you'll play a key part in helping National Gas meet net-zero ambitions while maintaining security of supply for millions of customers.

The work you do will directly influence major investment decisions, drive improvements in asset management, and help ensure the network continues to meet the evolving energy needs of the UK for generations to come.

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance competing priorities and translate long-term objectives into effective investment plans.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships across multiple teams and disciplines.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to clearly articulate, justify and influence investment decisions with both internal and external stakeholders.
