Role: Assertive Outreach Support Worker

Location: Manchester City Council

Pay Rate: £16.89 per hour

About the Role

Transitional safeguarding is an emerging area of social work practice focusing on safeguarding young people from adolescence into adulthood. It recognizes that this period of transition is experienced differently by each young person. The role involves ensuring young people, who may be at risk of exploitation, abuse, neglect, or homelessness, receive the support needed to stay safe and become as independent as possible. Manchester is developing its approach to transitional safeguarding and seeks a support worker until March 2025 (with possible extension).

Key Responsibilities
  1. Proactively outreach to engage young people, especially those reluctant to engage.
  2. Build trusting relationships with vulnerable young people.
  3. Support young people in making positive transitions to independence.
  4. Reduce risks associated with vulnerabilities.
  5. Work effectively with multi-agency partners in a coordinated approach.
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience working with vulnerable people to help them achieve positive outcomes.
  • Understanding challenges faced by young people transitioning from child to adult services.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other agencies.
  • Experience in trauma-informed approaches is essential.

This is an essential car driver role.

Remuneration

PAYE: £16.89

Umbrella: £21.09
