Transitional safeguarding is an emerging area of social work practice that focuses on safeguarding young people transitioning from adolescence into adulthood. This period varies for each individual and involves ensuring young people at risk of exploitation, abuse, neglect, or homelessness receive the support needed for safe and independent living. Manchester is developing its approach to transitional safeguarding, and we seek someone to join us until March 2025 (extension not guaranteed) to work with young people who often fall through service gaps.
This role involves proactive outreach to engage and build trusting relationships with young people, especially those reluctant to engage. The role is vital in supporting young people to transition to independence and reduce associated risks. It offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by providing support and guidance during a critical developmental stage.
We are looking for someone with direct experience working with vulnerable individuals, understanding challenges faced by young people transitioning from child to adult services, and the ability to work effectively with multi-agency partners. Experience in trauma-informed practice is essential.
