Job summary

Mane Contract Services in Denham is seeking an Assembly Operative for our Fitting Shop. You will undertake assembly and inspection to produce and test cables, pipes, high‑pressure hoses and gun components as part of seat assembly that will contribute to the ejector seats produced onsite, ultimately saving lives.

You will read engineering drawings, use basic measuring tools, and follow H&S policies and COSHH regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience reading engineering drawings.
• Background in manufacturing/engineering.
• Knowledge of H&S policies and COSHH regulations.
• Familiarity with measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture cables and high‑pressure hoses following process specs.
• Swage end fittings and conduct proof of load per PS1109.
• Assemble and inspect components for seat assemblies.

What you’ll be doing

Join us on this mission as an Assembly Operative working in our Fitting Shop at our Denham site. You’ll be undertaking a variety of processes, including assembly and inspection operations, to produce and test cables, pipes, high‑pressure hoses and gun components as part of seat assembly that will contribute to the success of the ejector seats produced onsite, ultimately saving lives.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture cables and high-pressure hoses in accordance with the process specification, including the following steps:
  • Selection of the specified diameter hose
  • Cut to length using the tools and attach specified end fitting
  • Cover in heat shrinkable material and shrink to PS417 standard
  • Make reusable hoses using an assembly/crimp machine and gauges
  • Swage end fittings in accordance with the process specification and conduct proof of load in accordance with PS1109

Characteristics & Skills

• Experience of reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Basic manufacturing/engineering background
• Background in H&S policies and procedures, QAI's and COSHH regulations
• Basic understanding of measuring equipment
• SAP experience, desirable
• Familiarity with engineering hand tools
