Job summary

Mo-Sys Engineering Ltd, a designer and manufacturer of advanced camera robotics and virtual technologies used in film and broadcast, is seeking a practical Assembly Technician to join a small Production team in London. You will solder and assemble wires and PCB components, follow drawings and instructions, and use hand tools with care.

Training will be provided, and there is no shift work. Hours are 9am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility; a tidy, safety-conscious workspace and

Responsibilities

  • Follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Solder and assemble small wires, cables, and electronic components.
  • Work from drawings and assembly instructions as required.
  • Carry out basic mechanical assembly using hand tools.
  • Raise issues to Production Manager to ensure efficient resolution.
  • Work on product repairs as guided by the Production Manager.
  • Maintain a tidy workspace and organise parts and tools.
  • Support the efficient operation of the workshop and comply with Health and Safety.

Job description

This is a rare opportunity to join an innovative designer and manufacturer of advanced camera robotics and virtual technologies used in the high-end film and broadcast industry. You will be part of a small, friendly Production team, carrying out hands-on assembly and soldering of component parts.

No PPE is required. Hours of work are 9am to 5:30pm (with some flexibility on start and finish times), Monday to Friday. There is no shift work or regular overtime.

This role would suit someone practical and hands-on, with some experience in electronics and assembly work. Training will be provided, particularly on mechanical assembly.

What You'll Do
  • Follow written and verbal instruction accurately.
  • Follow specifications to solder and assemble small wires, cables, and electronic components.
  • Work from simple drawings and assembly instructions where required.
  • Carry out basic mechanical assembly using hand tools (training provided).
  • Raise any problems encountered in a timely manner with the Production Manager or your 'work buddy', to ensure that problems can be handled efficiently.
  • Work on product repairs as guided by the Production Manager.
  • Maintain a tidy and organised workspace and store parts and tools in an orderly manner.
  • Contribute to the efficient operation of the workshop.
  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations at all times.

  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for the assembly of very small, often PCB components.
  • A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to learn.
  • Comfortable using hand tools or keen to be trained.
  • Ability to use small tools with a steady hand.
  • Ability to cope with a diverse and rapidly changing workflow, no two weeks will be the same!

Interview Process

Interviews at Mo-Sys are quite informal and conversational, generally carried out over a three stage process. To help us learn more about your workplace behaviours and preferences, you will also be invited to complete a short Predictive Index (PI) Behavioural and Cognitive Assessment. Depending on the position, you may also be required to undertake a technical assessment. The final stage normally involves meeting with senior members of the management team in our office in North Greenwich, London.
