Job summary

Octagon Group is seeking a hands-on Production Technician for their Cambridge team. You will join a busy, skilled group working on advanced electro mechanical systems, handling everything from cable assembly to full system build and test.

You will collaborate with experienced technicians, perform assembly and test of mechanical, optical and electronic components, and document work precisely in our records system.

We are looking for a hands on Production Technician to join a busy and highly skilled production team working on advanced electro mechanical systems. This is a varied role where no two days look the same, covering everything from cable assembly through to full system build and test.

You will be part of a collaborative team environment, working alongside experienced technicians and a supportive team leader. The role will involve assembling and testing mechanical, optical and electronic components, carrying out fault finding at component level, and ensuring all work is accurately recorded and documented.

What we are looking for - Production Technician - Cambridge

• Strong understanding of electronic fundamentals
• Experience with SMT soldering to 0201 and PCB repair
• Wiring and cable assembly experience
• Ability to read and understand schematics
• Confident using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DVMs and signal generators
• Working knowledge of PCB design software
• Experience with Solidworks or similar mechanical design tools
• Understanding of analogue and digital video processing
• Awareness of clean room techniques for opto mechanical assembly
