Assembly Technician - Immediate Start (Temporary, up to 3 Months)
Location: Reading, RG7
Driving Required Due to Location
Full time, Monday to Friday
I'm currently working with a company in the Reading (RG7) area who are seeking an experienced Assembly Technician to join their production team on a temporary basis, with an immediate start available. This role is expected to last up to three months and is ideal for someone with a strong background in electronic assembly and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform precise electro-mechanical assembly of computer systems and sub-assemblies, including circuit boards, chassis, power supplies, and cabling.
* Read and interpret detailed assembly instructions, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials.
* Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to assemble components efficiently.
* Solder and crimp electrical connections to industry standards.
* Install and configure basic software and operating systems where needed.
* Carry out in-process inspections and quality checks to ensure defect-free assembly.
* Identify and troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues during assembly.
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety and ESD protocols.
* Accurately document assembly processes and report any nonconformances using ERP/MRP systems and JIRA.
* Collaborate with engineering, QA, and production teams.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the production process.
* Ensure all tasks are completed on time to meet production schedules.
Requirements:
* IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification.
* Experience assembling rugged or high-reliability electronic systems.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
* Experience using ERP systems.
* Vocational training or formal certification in electronics assembly or a related field.
* Must hold a valid driving license due to the site's location.
