Assembly Technician - Biotech

Location: Portsmouth

Hours: 39 hours a week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Temporary to permanent

Salary: £17.82 an hour

Acorn by Synergie is currently seeking an experienced Assembly Technician for their client, a leading global manufacturing and engineering company. The Assembly Technician will assemble and test single-use hardware, such as bioreactors, mixers, and filtration chassis. The role also involves supporting customer-facing FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) by guiding customers through the tests.

This full-time role is on a temporary to permanent basis, working day shifts. It offers an excellent opportunity to work for a forward-thinking company at the forefront of exciting discoveries!

What are we looking for?

  • Competent in the mechanical and electrical assembly and testing of highly complex, automated equipment.
  • Experience in manufacturing wire looms, running cables, and wire termination, including soldering.
  • Proficient in electrical testing, such as PAT testing and live testing.
  • Ability to read wire diagrams and schematics.
  • Ability to read mechanical assembly drawings.
  • Good documentation practices.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal skills, especially in a customer-facing environment.

Main responsibilities:

  • Assemble and test single-use hardware according to product quality standards and production schedules.
  • Support customer-facing FATs.
  • Report and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, making controlled repairs or modifications where applicable.
  • Provide feedback on build and potential design issues.
  • Assist with cover pack as required.
  • Learn the skills and competencies necessary to meet business needs.
