A leading company in STEM recruitment is seeking an Assembly Technician for a 12-month contract in Edinburgh. The position involves manufacturing, repair, or modification of complex electronic assemblies, with emphasis on exceeding industry standards. Ideal candidates will have formal qualifications in workmanship standards and the ability to work independently within dynamic environments.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Production Operative is advantageous.
  • Good understanding of assembly disciplines such as wiring, fitting, PCB assembly.
  • Understanding of Business Management System (BMS) procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble/process electronic assemblies according to work instructions.
  • Repair/modify electronic assemblies.
  • Support and assist in training personnel.

Job description

Assembly Technician 1 - 12 month contract - Hillend (Edinburgh) - £22.06ph UMB or £16.54ph PAYE (Inside IR35)

Key skills required for this role:

  • Assembly Technician

Role:

  • Manufacture, repair or modify complex Radar, Avionics and Underwater electronic assemblies.
  • Skills to exceed industry standards such as IPC and ANSI J.
  • Requires flexibility to move between product range/contract.
  • Able to work with no supervision and limited engineering support.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assemble/process electronic assemblies in accordance with work instructions or technical drawings.
  • Repair/modify current and legacy electronic assemblies.
  • Work with limited data, utilising experience.
  • Use business systems to record product history and compliance.
  • Support and assist in training personnel.
  • Work independently.

Knowledge:

  • Previous experience as a "Production Operative" is advantageous.
  • Good understanding of assembly disciplines such as wiring, fitting, PCB assembly, etc.
  • Medium range of product experience and expertise in the discipline.
  • Understand and comply with Business Management System (BMS) procedures.

Skills:

  • Perform assembly/disassembly or modification tasks on electronic or mechanical components, subassemblies, and systems, including new builds and repairs.

Qualifications:

  • Formal qualification in Workmanship Standards such as ANSI J, IPC, or similar (preferred but experience is essential).

Security:

BPSS clearance required. This role requires obtaining a basic disclosure and employment reference checks before starting.
