We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Assembly Technician to join a specialist manufacturing company based near Melksham, Wiltshire.

This role involves a mixture of Mechanical and Electrical assembly work, contributing to the build and conversion of bespoke commercial vehicle bodies.

Assembly Technician Job Overview

Mechanical Assembly Duties

  • Install insulated panels into vehicle bodies with precision and attention to sealing quality.
  • Cut and shape materials (metal, plastic, wood) using hand and bench tools.
  • Apply silicone and gel sealants to floors, walls, and roofs.
  • Assemble mechanical components such as trims, flooring, and brackets.

Electrical Assembly Duties

  • Wire and terminate lighting, switches, and tail lift systems (low-voltage).
  • Read and work from basic electrical diagrams and wiring schematics.
  • Use electrical tools safely to carry out installations and checks.

General Workshop Responsibilities

  • Work from engineering drawings and works orders to meet build specifications.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe working area in line with health and safety expectations.
  • Support other shop floor or ad hoc tasks as required by the production team.

Assembly Technician Job Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical work instructions.
  • Confident using hand tools, bench saws, drills, and measuring equipment.
  • Experience working safely with both mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety protocols in a workshop or manufacturing setting.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying tasks and production priorities.
  • Reliable personal transport to access the site.

Assembly Technician Salary & Benefits

Hourly Rate: Up to £15.60 per hour (£36,504 per annum)

Hours: 45 hours per week

  • Monday-Thursday: 07:00-17:00
  • Friday: 07:00-14:30

Holiday: 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays
