Job summary

Eastbourne-based producer is seeking a practical Assembly Technician on a contract basis. You will assemble electrical, electronic and mechanical components into complete units and systems according to drawings and BOMs.

The role involves reading engineering drawings, installing wiring, using hand and power tools, checking quality, and supporting continuous improvements on the production line. On-site work with a safety-focused team.

Qualifications

• Experience assembling electrical, electronic and mechanical components.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.
• Attention to quality and detail during assembly.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electrical, electronic and mechanical components and sub-assemblies.
• Build complete units and systems according to drawings, specifications and work instructions.
• Read and follow engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and BOMs.
• Install and connect electrical components, cables, connectors and wiring.
• Carry out basic mechanical assembly, including fitting panels, brackets, enclosures and other components.
• Use hand tools, power tools and appropriate assembly equipment safely and correctly.
• Check components and assemblies throughout the build process to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Identify and report missing, incorrect or damaged components.
• Record completed work and follow relevant production documentation and procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised workstation.
• Support continuous improvements in assembly methods, quality and production efficiency.
• Assist other members of the production team when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble electrical, electronic and mechanical components and sub-assemblies.
• Build complete units and systems according to drawings, specifications and work instructions.
• Read and follow engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and bills of materials (BOMs).
• Install and connect electrical components, cables, connectors and wiring.
• Carry out basic mechanical assembly, including fitting panels, brackets, enclosures and other components.
• Use hand tools, power tools and appropriate assembly equipment safely and correctly.
• Check components and assemblies throughout the build process to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Identify and report missing, incorrect or damaged components.
• Work closely with Test Technicians to resolve assembly or quality issues identified during testing.
• Record completed work and follow relevant production documentation and procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well‑organised workstation.
• Support continuous improvements in assembly methods, quality and production efficiency.
• Assist other members of the production team when required.
