Job summary

Glamox in Ulverston is seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead daily operations, ensuring on-time orders and quality while coordinating with the team through our ERP system.

You will coach operators, assign tasks based on workload, and drive improvements to keep costs down and efficiency high, all while upholding company procedures and standards.

Qualifications

• Electrical or electronics background advantageous.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English & Maths.

Responsibilities

• Manage Production: ensure orders finish on time and meet quality standards using kit checks, inspections, and ERP.
• Organise the Team: assign tasks based on daily workload and capacity; track attendance, punctuality and holidays.
• Support and Grow Staff: coach team members and set up formal training.
• Drive Improvements: find ways to make production faster, smarter, and cheaper while preserving quality.
• Lead by Example: read/interpret technical drawings, maintain discipline, uphold company procedures.
• Provide cover for Senior Production Supervisor when needed.

Introduction

MARL International Limited was found in 1973 in Ulverston that produces large-scale custom lighting systems, as well as rugged LED components. We work closely with the defence and rail industries, as well as producing speciality lighting for creative applications. Marl became part of the Glamox group in August 2024.

What you'll do

• Manage Production: Make sure all orders finish on time and match quality standards. Use kit checks, inspections, and our ERP system (software used to manage business operations).
• Organise the Team: Assign tasks to operators based on daily workload and capacity. Track attendance, punctuality, and holidays.
• Support and Grow Staff: Coach team members and set up formal training to help them improve.
• Drive Improvements: Find new ways to make production faster, smarter, and cheaper while keeping quality high.
• Lead by Example: Read and interpret technical drawings, maintain discipline, and keep company procedures up to date.
• Step Up: Provide cover for the Senior Production Supervisor whenever needed.

Who you are

• Have electrical or electronics background advantageous.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• 5 GCSE's at grade C or above including English & Math's.
• Comfortable communicating with colleagues to demonstrate, maintain and actively promote the company, policies and strategy.
