Job summary

Kinetic Recruitment are partnered with a global manufacturer of electrical and electronic safety components for rail. An Assembly Operative is sought at their Middleton site for a short-term 6–8 weeks. Tasks include assembling parts, fitting components, bench work, basic electrical tests and drawing checks. Immediate start with on-site parking.

Hourly rate £13.14, Monday-Thursday 07:00–15:30, Friday 07:00–13:00. Positive team player with attention to detail needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical assembly roles.
• Ability to read and understand basic diagrams and drawings.
• Safe handling of hand tools and components, with a focus on quality.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical and basic electrical parts to precise specifications.
• Fit and secure components onto assemblies and carry out bench work.
• Perform basic electrical testing and check work against drawings.
• Adhere to engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Maintain safety and tool discipline on site.

With over 100 years of industry experience, this company continues to grow and innovate. We are currently looking for an Assembly Operative to join their established UK manufacturing site in Middleton, on a short-term 6 to 8 week basis.

Role

• Assemble mechanical and basic electrical parts to precise specifications
• Fit and secure components onto assemblies
• Carry out bench work and basic electrical testing
• Check work during the build using drawings and visual guides
• Use hand tools safely and correctly
• Follow engineering drawings and work instructions

Requirements

• Previous experience in a mechanical assembly role
• Able to work on your own and meet production deadlines
• Experience working in a fast‑paced or high‑volume environment
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Confident using hand tools and looking after equipment
• Able to read and understand basic diagrams and drawings
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality
• Good communication skills and able to work well as part of a team
