Job description

Job Title: Crushing and Screening Fitter

Job Purpose: The Crushing and Screening Fitter is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing crushing and screening equipment used in construction, mining, and quarry operations. This includes troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, ensuring equipment runs efficiently, and minimizing downtime.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on crushing and screening machinery. Repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of crushers, screens, conveyors, and related equipment. Troubleshoot and diagnose faults on crushing and screening plant equipment.
  2. Installation & Commissioning: Assist in the installation and commissioning of new crushing and screening equipment. Ensure equipment is installed in compliance with company and industry standards.
  3. Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations. Complete risk assessments and hazard identifications before starting work.
  4. Equipment Inspection & Reporting: Conduct regular inspections, identify signs of wear or damage, complete inspection reports, and maintain maintenance records.
  5. Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Respond to breakdowns, repair equipment on-site or in workshops, and collaborate with engineers and management on complex issues.
  6. Customer Interaction: Provide technical support and assist in training site personnel.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in maintenance and repair of crushing and screening machinery; experience in mining, quarry, or construction preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, ability to interpret manuals and schematics, proficiency with diagnostic and testing tools.
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering; relevant health and safety certifications (e.g., IOSH) preferred; valid driver's license.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in challenging environments, physically fit for manual labor.
  • Personal Skills: Strong problem-solving, independence, teamwork, and communication skills.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with specific brands or types of crushing and screening equipment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
