Job summary

Manpower UK is recruiting for an Assembler to join our client’s Stonehouse-based manufacturing team. The role focuses on assembling, testing and troubleshooting a range of products and tool assemblies to high quality and safety standards.

You will work from engineering drawings and assembly procedures, carrying out tasks precisely and efficiently while following health and safety policies. The position offers a stable day shift and opportunities for overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, procedures and work instructions.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions to complete assembly tasks.
  • Identify components and use appropriate hand tools, fixtures and equipment.
  • Assemble products and tool assemblies to specification.
  • Test assembled products and tool assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with products and assemblies.
  • Record labour transactions and maintain production records.
  • Complete required documentation for work performed.
  • Perform 5S and support lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance on machinery per procedures.
  • Comply with health, safety and environmental policies.
  • Wear PPE as required and complete training.

Location: Stonehouse, GL10 3EZ
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 2:30pm
Pay Rate: £15.00 - £20.00 per hour, depending on experience
Overtime: Available when required, subject to business needs

Manpower is recruiting on behalf of our client for an Assembler to join their manufacturing team based in Stonehouse.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with assembly experience to join a well-established manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for assembling, testing and troubleshooting a range of products and tool assemblies, ensuring all work is completed to the highest quality and safety standards.

The Role

As an Assembler, you will play a key role in the production process, working from engineering drawings and assembly procedures to build and test products accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, procedures and work instructions.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions to complete assembly tasks.
  • Identify components and utilise appropriate hand tools, fixtures and assembly equipment.
  • Accurately assemble products and tool assemblies to specification.
  • Conduct testing of assembled products and tool assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues relating to products and assemblies.
  • Record labour transactions and maintain accurate production records within the business system.
  • Complete documentation relating to work carried out.
  • Perform daily 5S activities and contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance on machinery using written procedures and checklists.
  • Comply with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Wear the required PPE at all times.
  • Complete mandatory training programmes, including health and safety-related courses.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have previous assembly experience and a strong attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately from technical instructions and drawings.

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Experience within a manufacturing, assembly or production environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and technical instructions.
  • Competent in the use of hand tools and assembly equipment.
  • Experience testing assembled products and identifying faults.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Soldering and Technical Skills
  • Basic soldering skills, with intermediate-level experience advantageous.
  • Knowledge of soldering and flux theory.
  • Experience carrying out soldering activities including:
    • Tinning
    • Splicing
    • Jenkin spring soldering
    • Turret soldering
    • Crimping
  • Ability to select the correct tools, solder types and fixtures for assembly tasks.
Qualifications
  • Minimum High School education or equivalent.
  • Vocational or trade school qualification preferred.
  • Relevant manufacturing, assembly or engineering qualifications would be advantageous.
