Job Description:

Aspiring Youth Worker - Restorative Practice - Mental Health - Education and Training. Ideal for Psychology/Criminology graduates with aspirations in Criminal Justice and Probation – Woking.

This role focuses on working in a challenging school setting for boys with trauma and mental health needs. It is suitable for those motivated to work with vulnerable young people and at risk of offending. Career progression can lead to roles such as probation officer, youth offending team member, or youth counselor.

The Provision & LSA role includes:

  • Specialist schools for students aged 9-16 with social emotional needs and Autism
  • Focus on trauma recovery through restorative practices and holistic learning
  • Support for SEMH, ADHD, Asperger’s, OCD, Dyslexia, and related challenges
  • Teaching of key, personal, and functional skills
  • Engagement in practical, creative, and vocational subjects
  • Class sizes of 6-8 students, grouped by ability, interest, and age
  • Training provided in MAPA and ABA

Pay is £88+ per day (PAYE), Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. This role offers valuable experience in a specialist setting emphasizing empathy and pragmatism, focusing on the holistic and therapeutic aspects of education.

Restorative Practice and positive reinforcement are key skills. You will work with students with EHCPs and SEMH needs, helping to raise attainment across various subjects including vocational courses like computing, hairdressing, PE, and performing arts, alongside core subjects such as maths and English.
