Graduate Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist - Godalming - Education and Training - SEN - Special Needs - SALT

Are you passionate about helping children with additional needs reach their full potential?

Are you seeking experience before pursuing a career as a Speech and Language Therapist?

We are recruiting for a Special Educational Needs (SEN) School near Godalming looking for an Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist to support children with SLCN. You will assist in a small class, collaborating with teaching and support staff to deliver targeted interventions aimed at enhancing students' language skills.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside qualified Speech and Language Therapists (SALT), delivering interventions to children with speech, language, and communication needs in both small group and 1:1 settings. This role offers meaningful experience that can help launch your future career in Speech and Language Therapy.

The School:

This school, located near Godalming, caters to children aged 4-19 who require a specialized curriculum to support their development. The school features a Therapy Department comprising Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists.

This role provides valuable experience working within a multidisciplinary team, broadening your knowledge and skills. It offers a pathway to careers such as SEN Teacher, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Child Psychologist.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering the curriculum and supporting student learning
  • Provide behaviour and pastoral support
  • Build effective, trusting relationships with students
  • Implement practical strategies to meet individual needs
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be caring, compassionate, and a good listener
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups with students
  • Ensure student safeguarding
  • Attend staff meetings and complete relevant CPD

Additional Information:

  • Start date: ASAP
  • On-site training, support, and CPD provided to ensure safeguarding
  • Salary: £85-£100 per day, Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:00, during term time
  • No prior experience required
  • Must be able to travel to Godalming
