Job summary

Academics Ltd is seeking an Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist / SEN Learning Support Assistant for East Grinstead. The role supports students with learning difficulties, including autism and speech, language, and communication needs. You will work under supervision to provide learning experiences and pastoral support.

Hours are Mon-Fri, 8:30am-3:30pm, term time only, on-site. Salary is 93-105 per day, with on-site training and CPD; you must have the right to work in the UK, and Enhanced DBS

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to support students with SEN, including autism and learning difficulties.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities essential for work with children and staff.
  • Experience in behaviour and pastoral support is desirable.
  • Willingness to participate in CPD and staff meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist class teacher to deliver learning experiences.
  • Provide behaviour and pastoral support to students.
  • Build robust relationships with students and support individual needs.
  • Ensure safeguarding and attend staff CPD sessions.

Aspiring Speech & Language Therapist

East Grinstead - SEN - Autism - Speech, Language & Communication Needs - West Sussex - Education - Learning Support Assistant - 93- 105 per day

Do you have a passion for supporting children with Learning Difficulties, including Autism, and Speech, Language & Communication needs?

This specialist built school in East Grinstead are looking for an Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist/SEN Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA) to support children mild to severe learning difficulties, including speech, language and communication needs, and autism.

This role in East Grinstead is an excellent way to get your 'foot in the door', providing the opportunity to work closely and network with other teams of professionals, gaining relevant experience, and expanding your knowledge and skillset. The Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist/SEN LSA role will give you essential experience within a challenging yet rewarding setting.

Career progression routes include Speech and Language Therapy, Special Needs Teacher, Occupational Therapy and various Child Psychology and Educational Psychology routes.

A common feature for many children and young people with special educational needs is marginalisation and disadvantage, trauma, dysfunctional family relationships, low educational attainment and stigmatisation. Subsequently they face many barriers in life and are more 'at risk' of negative outcomes. As an Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist/SEN LSA, you will be instrumental in providing consistency, and equipping the children with tools to ensure they feel safe, secure, empowered, and believe that they can succeed in life.

Job Role and Responsibilities of an Aspiring Speech and Language Therapist:

  • Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students
  • Behaviour and pastoral support
  • Ability to build robust and effective relationships with students
  • Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Caring, compassionate, and a good listener
  • Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students
  • Ensure safeguarding of students
  • Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD
  • Able to commute to East Grinstead

Excellent on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of all students
Mon-Fri, 8:30am-3:30pm, term time only
93-105 per day
