Job summary

Shetland Islands Council seeks Modern Apprentices to join Adult Services in residential settings across Shetland. You will learn to provide person-centred support and meet the physical, social and emotional needs of customers with supervision and study support from Shetland College.

Applicants should be caring, reliable and able to work shifts including evenings and weekends; PVG clearance and SSSC registration will be required on appointment. 2-year apprenticeship with progression.

Qualifications

• Caring by nature with good communication skills.
• Reliable, honest and non-judgemental attitude.
• Willingness to join PVG scheme and complete SSSC registration on start.
• Two-year apprenticeship with study supported in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Support elderly adults, adults with mental health issues, and learning disabilities in residential settings.
• Provide person-centred care addressing physical, social and emotional needs.
• Study in the workplace with support from Shetland College; progress to SVQ Level 6.
