A warm and welcoming Specialist school in Blackbird Leys is looking for a committed Mental Health Assistant to join their team starting in September 2024.
The successful Mental Health Assistant will join a team that prioritizes ensuring all students are cared for and feel included. You will be part of a positive environment with a supportive staff team sharing the common goal of maximizing student learning.
The children at this school need support in their daily activities. They face various learning disabilities, including some with ASD as their main diagnosis. These challenges require a supportive and positive individual to create a safe and engaging environment for learning.
The Mental Health Assistant will support students on a 1:1 basis, helping them maximize their lesson engagement. Support may also be provided in small group settings, facilitating access to learning in innovative ways.
Your role involves helping children achieve academic and personal goals by encouraging classroom involvement and fostering independence.
Daily responsibilities include supporting students and assisting the class teacher, setting up and clearing up after lessons, and helping with outdoor activities such as PE or outdoor learning.
Experience working with children with learning difficulties or in a classroom setting is preferred. A positive attitude and a passion for making a difference are essential.
