Materials Manager

Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for planning, logistics, and continuous improvement? We are looking for a Production Planning Specialist to work as a hands-on Materials Manager, leading the planning and logistics operations.

In this pivotal role, you'll align production schedules with supply chain capabilities, manage inventory levels, and drive cost-effective, on-time delivery to customers. With a focus on planning and operational excellence, you'll support initiatives that enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Deliver
  • 3 months - Fine-tune the daily planning process
  • 3-6 months - Focus on capacity planning
  • 6-12 months - Identify and implement planning software to enhance the ERP system
  • 12 months & beyond - Develop the team and take on greater responsibilities within the organization
What You'll Bring
  • Proven experience in planning, logistics, and inventory management in a batch manufacturing environment
  • Ability to plan complex 'made-to-order' mini projects, typically between 60-100
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • A drive for continuous improvement and cost optimization
  • NVQ Level 5+ preferred; CPIM/CLTD certifications a plus
