Aspiring Outreach Worker

Are you motivated by supporting and helping vulnerable and at-risk young people?

This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and young people who are at-risk. The Aspiring Outreach Worker role will provide valuable experience working with vulnerable students, enhancing their engagement, attainment, and life chances.

You will deliver a vital service within the community, collaborating with teachers and specialist staff to support students with special educational needs (SEN), as well as addressing various social, emotional, and mental health challenges and traumas. Some children and young people may have experienced adverse childhood experiences, and you will be responsible for identifying their risks and needs, escalating concerns when necessary.

Many children and young people with SEN face marginalisation, disadvantage, trauma, dysfunctional family relationships, low educational attainment, and stigma. They encounter numerous barriers in life and are more at risk of negative outcomes. Your role will be crucial in providing consistency and equipping these children and young people with tools to feel safe, secure, empowered, and confident in their ability to succeed.

This role is ideal for graduates in Psychology, Sociology, and Criminology, offering excellent practical experience with vulnerable, hard-to-reach students, and is suitable for those aspiring to careers in outreach or non-profit organizations. It is also appropriate for aspiring Probation Officers, Prison Officers, and Youth Justice Workers.
