Job summary

A local authority in Stevenston is seeking a temporary part-time educator to support children with additional needs. You will work under the direction of the Head Teacher to deliver inclusive educational experiences. This is a temporary position until January 2026, offering 7 hours per week at a pay rate of £16.84 - £18.20 per hour. Candidates must be willing to undergo a PVG check and embody the council's values of Focus, Passion & Inspiration.

Job description

Location: Lockhart Campus Boglemart Street Stevenston, KA20 3JX

Rate: £16.84 - £18.20 per hour

Contract Type: Temporary

Hours: 7 hours per week

Job Summary

Temporary until 9th January 2026.

We may conduct our interviews in person or using Microsoft Teams for video calling. All you need is a device with a camera and access to the internet. We will provide guidance and instructions on how to use this method if your interview is being held virtually.

This post is based within Lockhart Campus. Reporting to the Head Teacher, you will contribute to the education of children and young people who have been identified as requiring additional support including those with exceptional health care needs. You will support high quality learning and teaching through inclusive practice ensuring that pupils needs are well met.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by North Ayrshire Council. Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant PVG check (£59 or £18), which will be deducted from your salary following commencement of employment.
