Job summary

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London is seeking a Pharmacist to join the Aseptic Services team at Band 6. You will support the delivery of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, PN and CIVAS products, ensuring safe and timely preparation and release.

The role involves clinical validation, GMP/GCP compliance, supervision of trainees and ongoing service development, with an emphasis on patient safety and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a comprehensive aseptic pharmacy service, supporting the preparation and supply of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, PN, clinical trial medicines and CIVAS products.
• Clinically validate parenteral nutrition prescriptions and provide pharmaceutical input to adult, paediatric and neonatal nutrition teams, ensuring safe and appropriate patient-specific regimens.
• Undertake technical verification of aseptic prescriptions and perform final checks and release of aseptically prepared medicines in accordance with GMP, GCP and Trust policies.
• Coordinate day-to-day aseptic workload, working with pharmacists, technicians and clinical teams to ensure safe, efficient and timely patient treatment.
• Provide specialist medicines and nutrition advice to healthcare professionals and contribute to the safe, effective and economical use of medicines across the Trust.
• Support service development, audit, research and quality improvement activities, including clinical trials and quality monitoring.
• Supervise, train and support trainee pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other junior staff, promoting high professional and quality standards.
• Support error reporting, quality assurance activities and workload monitoring to maintain a safe, efficient and cost-effective aseptic service.
• Participate in late duties, weekend, bank holiday and cross-site working to support service delivery and patient care
