Job Description:

Axcis Education is proud to be an industry-leading specialist in providing SEND teaching staff. We are currently recruiting for dedicated and compassionate ASD Teaching Assistants at a well-respected primary school in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Supporting pupils with ASD in a classroom setting, under the supervision of the class teacher.
  2. Employing strategies to promote positive behaviour in line with the school's policy and individual student needs.
  3. Facilitating a secure, safe, and supportive learning environment for all pupils.
  4. Participating actively in lesson activities, while also providing feedback to the teacher on pupils' progress and challenges.
  5. Keeping accurate records of students' performance, behaviour, and progress.
  6. Attending regular training sessions and meetings to enhance professional development.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Support Teaching and Learning in Schools or relevant experience working with SEND.
  • Understanding of strategies to handle challenging behaviour and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Experience working within an SEND setting, particularly with ASD, would be highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
