Job description

We are working with a school in North Bristol that is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join their support staff team in Year 3. The role primarily involves supporting a child with an ASD diagnosis on a 1:1 basis.

Specific responsibilities include:

1. Forming positive relationships and responding to the child's individual needs.
2. Supporting the child's integration and participation in class activities.
3. Breaking down tasks to make them accessible.
4. Liaising with outside agencies regarding specific support programs.
5. Maintaining accurate records of achievements, progress, and concerns.
6. Building trusting professional relationships with parents and carers.
7. Collaborating closely with the class teacher, job share partner, SENDCO, and year group team.
8. Supporting the pupil during lunchtimes and afternoon learning sessions.

About you

The ideal candidate is a confident, caring individual with recent school-based experience and appropriate qualifications. Experience supporting children with additional learning needs is desirable.

You should be able to work well as part of a team and also use your initiative to support the child's learning, behavior, and development according to their EHCP and Safety Plan. This includes preparing learning resources and materials in advance.

The position involves supporting the pupil during lunchtimes and afternoon sessions.

All pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary role, with the possibility of becoming permanent later.
