Teaching Assistant - ASD & Social Communication Needs

Location: Bedford
£90 - £110 per day (dependent on experience) | Full-time

Are you passionate about helping young people feel understood, supported, and able to thrive? A warm and inclusive specialist school in Bedford is looking for a committed Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school supports learners aged 4-19 with Profound, Multiple and Complex Learning Needs, as well as those with Autism and Social Communication challenges. This role offers the chance to play a meaningful part in each child's learning journey within a highly nurturing, structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide thoughtful 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ASD and social communication needs
  • Contribute to an inclusive, predictable, and child-centred learning environment
  • Support pupils with routines, communication development, and positive social interactions
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider staff to promote each learner's wellbeing and progress

Key Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with ASD or Social Communication needs
  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
  • A positive attitude and flexibility to adapt to the individual needs of pupils
