ASC/ADHD Therapeutic specialist

Location: Waltham Forest

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 FTE (Depending on qualifications and experience)

Hours: 30 hours per week

Contract: 12 Month Contract

The Role

The organisation is seeking a qualified therapist with specialised experience in supporting neurodiverse young people, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The successful candidate will work therapeutically with children and adolescents experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges, providing short-term (up to 12 sessions) evidence-based interventions, one-off psychoeducation workshops, CBT-based groups for adolescents, and CBT-based groups for parents/carers of primary-aged children.

In this role, you will contribute to the development and monitoring of a new aspect of the Roots Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, created due to the demand in the borough for additional support for this cohort of young people aged 5–17 Your commitment to enhancing the confidence, mental health, and overall wellbeing of young people and their families will be central to your work.

They are looking for a dynamic and independent practitioner who, with the support of the Service Manager and Clinical Lead, will manage a caseload of young people across their Waltham Forest sites.

The role will operate from various sites across Waltham Forest and will involve some remote work.

Skills and Qualifications

  • You are a qualified therapist with relevant registration with a professional body (e.g., HCPC, BACP, BABCP,UKCP) / Are accredited with the BABCP and are in the process of completing your application.
  • You have demonstrable experience, and ideally a qualification in, working with neurodiversity children and young people, particularly those with ASC and ADHD.
  • You have a strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by neurodiverse individuals and their families
  • You possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with young people and stakeholders.
  • You are a passionate, independent and dynamic mental health worker keen on working alongside a diverse team to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people within Waltham Forest
