Future Opportunities

There is potential to secure a full-time position with the business at the end of the apprenticeship. What will you bring?

About you

Working in the asbestos field requires accuracy, diligence, and accountability. We seek someone who is methodical, detail-oriented, and able to work with a high degree of precision. You should be results-driven, able to spot issues quickly, and capable of documenting findings clearly. The work can change quickly on site, so you should be comfortable thinking on your feet and making sound decisions when required. Health and safety is at the heart of everything we do, so a genuine commitment to safe working practices and ongoing learning of asbestos industry standards and regulations is essential. The role is hands-on and fast-paced, so prior experience with tools, equipment, or technical settings is advantageous. Strong communication skills are essential due to working at various locations and interacting with a wide range of people. You should be friendly, reliable, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Please note, due to the site-based nature of this position, you must be aged 20+, hold a clean UK Driving Licence, and be willing to drive to different sites daily. Some heavy lifting, work at heights, and in confined spaces will be required.

Qualifications & Experience

We value enthusiasm and the right attitude. Previous experience is welcome but not required; we’re looking for individuals who are eager to learn and fit well within Life Environmental Services.

So how does the apprenticeship work?

Over 21 months, you will devote a minimum of 6 hours per week to off-the-job training, including theory (virtual lessons, online learning) and practical training (shadowing, mentoring, assignments). This will count towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship. You will be trained by a qualified tutor from Tiro and an experienced Life Environmental Services mentor to develop knowledge, skills, and work habits for a successful career. You will earn a salary while gaining qualifications.

Eligibility

Eligibility is governed by UK Government rules for apprenticeships. Applicants must demonstrate that the program offers new knowledge and skills beyond their current qualifications and professional expertise. If you already hold a Level 3, degree, or higher in a related field, or have substantial relevant experience, you may not be eligible for apprenticeship funding, as these programs are for upskilling or reskilling. You must be over 20, not in full-time education, have resided in the UK for at least 3 years, and have the right to work in the UK. If you don’t meet all requirements, express interest and we will discuss next steps.
