Job summary

Future Select Limited is seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager for a UKAS accredited asbestos laboratory. You will lead a team of analysts, oversee daily operations, ensure deadlines and safety standards are met, and provide training and technical support.

The ideal candidate has hands-on asbestos analysis to UKAS standards, BOHS P401, strong communication and time management, and proven leadership of laboratory staff.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Asbestos Laboratory Manager or Supervisor.
• BOHS P401 qualification at minimum.
• Strong knowledge of UKAS accreditation and ISO 17025.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing daily operations within a UKAS accredited asbestos laboratory.
• Supervising teams to ensure works run smoothly.
• Providing training and technical support to Analysts.
• Conducting auditing and quality assurance checks.
• Upholding UKAS accreditation through laboratory management.
• Allocating workloads efficiently.
• Acting as a point of contact for clients and handling queries.
• Recording analysis results on an internal database.
• Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring safety standards.
• Managing staff performance and conducting reviews.

Job description

A growing Asbestos Laboratory is seeking an experienced and professional Laboratory Manager to join their successful outfit. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience of analysing asbestos samples to UKAS standards, and will utilise their knowledge in order to confidently lead a team on a daily basis. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring deadlines are met and safety standards are maintained. We are seeking someone with excellent communication and time management skills, who will fit in well with an established team. We can consider both full-time and part-time applications for this position. Our client is offering competitive salaries and benefits packages.

Experience / Qualifications:

• Experience working as an Asbestos Laboratory Manager and / or Supervisor
• Must be qualified with the BOHS P401 as a minumum
• It would be beneficial to hold further BOHS / RSPH industry modules
• Strong experience managing teams of Laboratory staff
• Excellent industry technical knowledge
• Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills
• Confident communicator

The Role:
