Job summary

Mitie’s Tersus division in Thurso is seeking an Asbestos Surveyor to conduct comprehensive asbestos surveys across domestic, commercial and industrial properties. You will support clients with technical advice and ensure accurate reporting in line with GPD 4 and current regulations.

The role requires BOHS P403/P404, RSPH Level 3 Asbestos Air Monitoring qualification, and a BOHS competence certificate, plus a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Bachelors-equivalent professional certifications in asbestos surveying and monitoring.
• Qualified to perform asbestos air monitoring with BOHS/RSPH standards.
• Certification demonstrates competence in asbestos surveying and reporting.
• A valid UK driving licence is required to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all asbestos-related work complies with GPD 4, General Quality Procedures and current regulations.
• Provide technical information and reporting to clients, review reports, and meet timescales.
• Participate in audits, attend meetings and training, arrange client/contractor meetings, and report incidents requiring insurer or legal notification.
• Provide technical advice, prepare health and safety risk assessments, and supervise staff under your control.
• Support business objectives by undertaking additional duties and maintaining professional standards within asbestos field.

Job description

HOURS: 9.25 hours per day (10 days on, 4 days off)

LOCATION: Thurso

We're looking for an Asbestos Surveyor who will conduct a full range of asbestos surveying duties across domestic, commercial and industrial properties while supporting clients with technical advice and accurate reporting.

Interviews are routinely held on Wednesday afternoons; however, we are happy to offer flexibility where needed to support applicants' individual circumstances.

Role Responsibilities:

• Ensure all asbestos‑related work is carried out in accordance with GPD 4 (‘Air Sampling, Fibre Counting, 4SC and Certificate for Reoccupation procedures'), General Quality Procedures, and current asbestos regulations
• Provide quality services and technical information to clients, compile recommendations, review reports, and ensure all reporting is completed to required standards and timescales
• Participate in audits, attend meetings and training, arrange client/contractor meetings, and report any occurrences requiring insurer or legal notification
• Provide technical advice, prepare health and safety risk assessments, and support compliance of staff under your control
• Support business objectives by undertaking additional duties, maintaining professional standards, and demonstrating experience within the asbestos field

• The BOHS P403 and BOHS P404
• The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Level 3 Certificate for Asbestos Air Monitoring Analysts
• The BOHS Certificate of Competence in Asbestos
• Full UK driving licence is required
