Job description

The Community Safety Services Team is located within the Communities Department. They have the responsibility of providing a multi-agency approach to reduce crime, disorder, and anti-social behaviour across Bexley and coordinating the Community Safety Strategy and delivery plan. Community Safety brings together the relevant statutory partners who have a responsibility for this work, including the London Borough of Bexley, Metropolitan Police, National Probation Service, London Fire Brigade, and Health, along with voluntary organisations and other key local authority-based services who come together to develop plans and strategies to reduce crime, disorder, and anti-social behaviour.

The Community Safety Services team takes the lead in several key community safety functions. These currently include monitoring and reducing Anti-Social behaviour, ensuring plans are in place in relation to the Prevent Agenda (Counter Terrorism and radicalisation), along with Integrated Offender Management and Serious Violence, including all forms of exploitation and supporting high-risk vulnerable victims.

We currently have a vacancy for a part-time (27 hours per week) 4-year fixed-term contract for the role of Hate Crime and ASB Project Officer. This post will develop projects specifically relating to Hate Crime and ASB, ensuring multi-agency delivery. The post will sit within Community Safety Services and will be managed by the Community Safety Projects lead. The post will lead on the implementation of key areas of work such as:

  • Co-ordination and implementation of the projects delivered across Hate Crime Awareness Week and ASB Awareness Week, and year-round online communications.
  • Overseeing the relevant action plans and supporting the ASB delivery group as a BCSP priority area.
  • Delivering training to professionals raising awareness of the operational processes to respond to reports of Hate Crime and ASB.
  • Managing the Community Safety inbox, triaging reports of Hate Crime and ASB, and case-logging.

Candidate Profile

This is an exciting opportunity to join the busy community safety team. You will need to have experience of working within a multi-agency setting, delivering training, and be highly organized with good IT skills.

Some evening and weekend attendance may be required.
