Job description

We have an amazing opportunity here at nDreams for an aspiring Artist to join the team for a week this year. You will have the opportunity to work on real projects, with industry veterans, experts and newcomers alike to get a real oversight as to how our immersive VR games come to fruition.

The rundown:

  • 1-week work experience

  • Opportunity to obtain first-hand experience in the games industry
  • In person placement at our Brighton Studio

What you will get up to:

  • Shadowing senior artists to observe workflows and learn best practices
  • Assisting with asset clean-up, naming conventions, and file organisation
  • Creating simple props or environment pieces for internal use or greybox levels
  • Supporting texture and material creation using tools like Substance Painter or Photoshop
  • Helping with asset integration and testing in the game engine
  • Participating in team stand-ups and art reviews
  • Learning about the full art pipeline from concept to implementation
  • Contributing to mood boards or reference gathering for visual development

Requirements

What you will need:

  • A foundational understanding of art in game development, gained through study, projects, or self-led learning
  • A genuine interest in the games industry and curiosity about how games are made
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges with a positive attitude
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Respectful communication and professional behaviour in a studio environment
  • The desire and willingness to upskill yourself and learn new skills
  • Basic computer literacy (e.g. navigating files, using email, typing)

The nice-to-haves:

  • Some awareness of different roles in game development
  • A portfolio or examples of work
