Job summary

Insight is seeking an experienced AI Forward Deployed Engineer to lead design, delivery and scaling of high-impact AI solutions for strategic customers. The role blends software engineering, applied AI and customer problem-solving, taking ownership from discovery to production deployment.

You will work with partners and customers as a senior technical contributor, collaborating with architects and multidisciplinary teams to make pragmatic decisions and resolve complex implementation challenges.

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering software, AI or applied AI solutions in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience with foundation models, LLM APIs and AI platforms.
• Experience with generative AI patterns including RAG, tool/function calling and agentic workflows.
• Experience designing evaluation approaches for AI quality, reliability, safety and performance.
• Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise data, APIs and workflows; deployment in customer environments.

Responsibilities

• Explain complex AI concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced AI Forward Deployed Engineer to lead the design, delivery and scaling of high-impact AI solutions for strategic customers.

This is a senior, hands-on technical role for someone who thrives at the intersection of software engineering, applied AI and customer problem-solving. You will turn complex and often ambiguous business challenges into secure, scalable and commercially viable AI solutions, taking ownership from early discovery and rapid prototyping through to production deployment.

You will work directly with partners and customers as a senior technical contributor, working alongside Solution Architects and multidisciplinary teams to make pragmatic technical decisions and solve difficult implementation problems. This is an individual-contributor technical leadership role, with significant influence but no formal line-management responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of complex AI engagements, owning implementation, deployment approach, technical risk and engineering priorities.
• Work directly with customers and senior stakeholders to translate ambiguous business challenges into practical AI solutions.
• Rapidly prototype, test and iterate AI solutions with customers to validate assumptions, feasibility and value.
• Design, build and deploy production-grade generative AI, agentic and other applied AI solutions.
• Remain hands‑on throughout delivery, contributing code, integrations, evaluations and technical implementation.
• Work alongside Solution Architects to translate customer requirements and constraints into appropriate solution designs and implementation approaches.
• Integrate AI capabilities with enterprise systems, data, APIs, workflows and security models.
• Establish appropriate approaches for AI evaluation, observability, guardrails, human oversight and operational monitoring.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems encountered when deploying AI into customer environments.
• Conduct design and code reviews while mentoring engineers and improving technical capability across the practice.
• Collaborate with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Product, Research, Architecture and Customer Success to align strategy and resolve delivery dependencies.
• Create reusable frameworks, accelerators, playbooks and solution patterns from customer delivery experience.
• Ensure solutions meet appropriate security, privacy, legal, responsible AI, governance and enterprise risk requirements.
• Explain complex AI and engineering concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute customer insight and implementation learning to Insight’s AI services, capabilities and go-to-market approach.

Experience Required:

• Significant experience delivering software, AI, machine learning or applied AI solutions within complex, customer-facing enterprise environments.
• Hands‑on experience building solutions using modern foundation models, LLM APIs and associated AI platforms.
• Practical experience with generative AI patterns including RAG, tool/function calling, structured outputs and agentic workflows.
• Experience designing evaluation approaches covering AI quality, reliability, safety and performance.
• Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise data, APIs, applications and workflows.Experience deploying and operating AI solutions using platforms such as Azure or AWS, or within customer-controlled environments.
• Strong understanding of AI application architecture, orchestration, model selection, context management, observability and LLM operations.
• Strong understanding of production engineering practices, solution architecture, security, testing and maintainability.
• Ability to operate effectively where requirements are incomplete or ambiguous, using experimentation and iterative delivery to converge on solutions.
• Proven experience working directly with senior customer stakeholders while maintaining strong technical credibility with engineering teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and judgement to balance customer value, technical risk, delivery speed and scalability.
• Experience creating reusable technical frameworks, components, standards or delivery patterns.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, AI or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• A commitment to continuous learning, responsible AI and staying current with developments in AI technology, governance and market expectations.

Your work will reduce delivery risk and turn customer implementation learning into reusable capabilities that can be applied across customers, industries and geographies.
