Job summary

Parkside School is seeking a dedicated Art, Textiles and Food Tech Technician to provide vital practical and technical support across departments. You will prepare resources, assist lessons, maintain equipment and help create inspiring learning spaces.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent Level 2 qualification.
• Practical aptitude with Art, Textiles or Food Tech equipment; confident IT and Audio-Visual skills are essential.
• High self-motivation, excellent communication and attention to detail; safeguarding commitment.

Responsibilities

• Practical & Classroom Support: Prepare materials and equipment and provide 1:1 and small group support to students during practical activities.
• Resource & Equipment Maintenance: Ensure sewing machines, sublimation printers and practical equipment are serviced, clean and safe for use. Maintain tidy preparation rooms and storage areas.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Manage stock levels, update CLEAPSS and COSHH documentation and ensure all materials are stored safely in line with safety guidelines.
• Creative & Display Work: Assist in creating vibrant displays of student work and setting up exhibition spaces.
• Performing Arts & Event Support: Provide audio-visual, lighting, costume and set design support for school productions, showcases and school events.
• Faculty Administration: Handle ordering, stock audits, delivery management and administrative support across the department.

Join Our Team at Parkside School as an Art, Textiles and Food Tech Technician

Parkside School is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and organised Art, Textiles and Food Tech Technician to join our team.

In this varied and hands-on role, you will provide vital technical and practical support across our Art, Textiles and Food Technology departments. You will work closely with teaching staff to prepare resources, support practical lessons, maintain specialist equipment and foster a safe, inspiring learning environment where students can flourish.

Working in conjunction with two other technicians within the faculty. As such this post is part time over four days. There could be some flexibility over these days that could be discussed at an interview or in advance by contacting Steve Tighe, Associate Principal at [e-mail]

What we are looking for

• Skills & Experience: Practical aptitude with Art, Textiles or Food Tech equipment, alongside confident IT and Audio-Visual skills is essential.
• Attributes: High self-motivation, excellent communication skills, attention to detail and a genuine commitment to empowering young people.
• Flexibility: A collaborative team player who can adapt to changing daily priorities and occasionally support out-of-hours school performances or open events.
