Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled part-time Art Technician to provide technical support to our Art Department for half a day per week. This role is vital in supporting the teaching of high-quality, practical art lessons.

About Us

HWSF is selective on both ability and disadvantage and places first go to academically able students from disadvantaged backgrounds. It is a wonderful school with an ethos of “learning is amazing”, where staff truly care about the progress their students make over their two years with us. We are based in the heart of Westminster, and work in collaboration with the Harris Federation and Westminster School. Our location gives us many benefits; we hold our assemblies in St Margaret's Church and Westminster Abbey, and we offer students weekly lectures from visiting speakers.

Our school is one of the top sixth forms in the country, with the aim to deliver high quality education and outstanding outcomes to students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Main Areas of Responsibility

In This Key Role, You Will

  • Assist teaching staff with the preparation and layout of classrooms for practical sessions, including running trials, demonstrations, and supporting students during activities
  • Prepare equipment and materials in accordance with teacher specifications, including the creation or adaptation of resources as required
  • Support students and staff in the safe and effective use of tools and materials, ensuring adherence to Health and Safety regulations
  • Prepare materials for both 2D and 3D projects, such as stretching canvases and preparing screens for printing
  • Provide in-class support during practical lessons and assist with extracurricular or after-hours activities when needed

Qualifications & Experience

We would welcome your application if you have:

  • Qualifications to A Level standard or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of Health and Safety regulations relevant to an educational setting
  • Experience working with a variety of Art tools and materials
  • Prior experience as a technician in a school or similar educational environment
