Outstanding Secondary School in Barnet seeks an organised and practical Art graduate or Art specialist to work as an Art Technician, starting in September 2025 on a permanent part-time basis.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Art & Design Faculty as directed by the Head of Art.
  • Meeting practical needs of teaching staff according to school schemes of learning.
  • Working with a team of Art Technicians.
  • Maintaining all Art equipment.
  • Stocktaking and managing resource levels.
  • Organising the Art resource room for accessibility and usability.
  • Staying current with subject knowledge and attending relevant training.
  • Supporting school activities such as open days.
  • Briefing staff on new equipment or ideas during faculty meetings.
  • Disposing of waste materials safely.
  • Adhering to health and safety protocols regarding hazardous materials.
  • Managing stock records, placing orders, and ensuring expenditure compliance.
  • Identifying equipment needs and participating in procurement.
  • Organising and storing equipment according to regulations.
  • Contributing to the development of the faculty’s facilities.
  • Maintaining and repairing apparatus and equipment.
  • Ensuring facilities meet teaching and safety standards.
  • Preparing and setting up apparatus for practical classes and demonstrations.
  • Cleaning up after use and modifying apparatus as needed.
  • Supporting practical examinations and assessments.
  • Maintaining safety and security standards.
  • Performing other duties as requested by the Head of Art.
