Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an Art Technician for a secondary school in Lewisham (South East London). This supply/temporary role runs 8:30am - 4:00pm, with pay £14.00-£17.00 per hour, dependent on experience and responsibilities.

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a skilled, enthusiastic and organised Art Technician to join a welcoming secondary school in Lewisham on a supply basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative and experienced individual with a relevant degree and previous experience in an Art Technician or similar educational support role. The successful candidate will play an essential part in supporting the Art Department, ensuring that practical lessons run smoothly and that students have access to the materials, equipment and resources they need to develop their creativity.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing, organising and maintaining art materials, tools and equipment for lessons.

Essential Requirements

• A degree in Fine Art, Art and Design, or a closely related subject is required.

• Good knowledge of art materials, techniques, equipment and associated health and safety procedures.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Pay and Progression Opportunities

The hourly pay rate for this position ranges from £14.00 to £17.00 per hour, depending on the candidate's relevant experience, technical expertise and the responsibilities undertaken. Candidates with less extensive experience who meet the essential requirements may be offered a rate towards the lower end of the advertised range. Opportunities to achieve a higher hourly rate may include:

• Relevant experience: Demonstrating substantial previous experience as an Art Technician, particularly within secondary schools.
• Specialist skills: Bringing advanced knowledge of artistic processes, equipment, materials and workshop safety.
• Professional development: Developing technical skills, confidence and independence through continued experience in the role.
• Additional responsibilities: Taking on duties such as coordinating stock management, supporting exhibitions, overseeing specialist equipment or assisting with departmental organisation.
