Overview

Rhodes Wood Hospital School is a specialist setting providing education for young people with eating disorders and associated social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. We pride ourselves on delivering a supportive, stimulating, and personalised education with small class sizes and a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach. We are seeking a passionate and creative Art Teacher to join our team on a maternity cover contract. This is a fixed-term position for six months initially, with the possibility of extension. The role is part-time, covering three days per week (Monday, Tuesday and Friday).

Responsibilities
  • Teach Art to small groups of students across KS3–KS5, adapting learning to meet individual needs.
  • Lead on planning and delivery of a broad, rich and engaging Art curriculum that inspires imagination, creativity, and self-expression.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, therapists, and hospital staff to provide a joined-up approach to education and wellbeing.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Enthusiastic about Art and committed to inspiring young people.
  • Able to deliver Art confidently up to GCSE level.
  • Experience in SEMH/SEND, alternative provision, or hospital school settings is highly desirable.
  • Resilient, creative, and committed to inclusive education.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire highly able learners.
  • Experienced in or willing to develop expertise in working with students with SEMH needs.
  • Can start as soon as possible if available before January.
