Job description

Step Teachers are currently working with a school in Hatfield that is seeking an Art Teacher to start a part-time role in September 2025. The position is at a specialist provision school catering to students up to age 18, offering personalised learning programmes for young people with eating disorders. Initially, the role will be temporary, with the potential to become permanent for an Art Teacher who embodies the school's values and can effectively support students in their learning.

This part-time Art Teacher role involves working three days a week. The school provides lessons in smaller groups compared to mainstream schools. The school values kindness and collaboration, striving to ensure no student feels they are missing out on their studies.

Art Teacher Role:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, comprehensive lessons tailored to students' needs
  • Maintain an organised classroom and ensure the safe use and storage of equipment
  • Collaborate effectively with staff and external professionals
  • Assess students, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback
  • Follow the school's policies and reliably implement them
Art Teacher Requirements:
  • Hold QTS/QTLS or an equivalent qualification
  • Recent school-based experience as an Art Teacher with good knowledge of the curriculum
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Personable and professional demeanor in the classroom
  • A relevant Art-related degree is desirable
  • Experience with SEND and SEMH is desirable
