We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Art Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive SEN School in Colchester, Essex. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students who have a range of additional needs, helping them build confidence, express yourself creatively, and achieve their individual potential through art.


As an Art Teacher, you will:


  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Art lessons tailored to students' individual learning needs.

  • Inspire pupils to explore their creativity through a variety of artistic mediums and techniques.

  • Create a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

  • Support students with Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and associated learning difficulties.

  • Monitor and assess student progress, celebrating achievements and encouraging personal development.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to provide holistic support for learners.


The Ideal Candidate


  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Has experience teaching Art within a secondary school, SEN setting, or alternative provision.

  • Is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs.

  • Possesses excellent communication and classroom management skills.

  • Is creative, adaptable, patient, and resilient.

  • Has a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for pupils with SEN.
