Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Art Shop Technician to join the team on a term time only basis on a fixed term contract until July 2026. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £26,039 pro rata.

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About The Role

As the Art Shop Technician, you will be co-ordinating of Art technicians and assisting teaching staff to keep all areas of the Art accommodation in a clean, tidy and well-organised state, with particular attention to Health and Safety.

Responsibilities As Our Art Shop Technician Will Include

  • Co-ordination of all Studio and Workshop facilities within the department in relation to equipment, resources – Maintaining and repair of specialist equipment.
  • Safe storage of students work in line with JCQ guidance.
  • Management of basic stock, materials and budget.
  • Placing Orders on Business World and updating departmental budget spreadsheets.
  • Issuing equipment, materials and books to students and staff.
  • Demonstration and assistance to members of staff and students, in workshops and on individual basis in the use of apparatus and equipment, materials and processes.
  • Assisting staff with general clerical duties and with the maintenance of records for the Section.
  • Maintaining a collection of current catalogues.

As Our Art Shop Technician, You'll Ideally Have

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant subject area or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience in supporting teaching and learning through technical support
  • Specialist knowledge of one or more of the following areas: Art and Design, Photography or Media
  • Evidence of working towards and achieving personal targets
  • The ability to relate well to learners of all abilities and to assess learner needs
