Job summary

Amiqus is partnering with a Hertfordshire-based video games studio to seek an Art Director/Lead Artist. The role focuses on hands-on stylised 3D character and environment work, with flexibility to specialise in characters or environments.

Qualifications

• Proven professional experience in game art development and shipped titles.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality stylised 3D character art and game-ready assets.
• Experience creating characters, rigs, and animations.
• Experience defining and maintaining an art style across a project or team.
• Strong understanding of composition, colour theory, shape language, and visual storytelling.
• Experience working within Unity.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to provide clear, constructive artistic direction and feedback.
• Passion for creating games and memorable player experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the art team across projects.
• Define and maintain a consistent art style across the game and team.
• Oversee character and environment asset creation from concept to final polish.
• Collaborate with design and narrative teams for strong visual storytelling.
• Review asset pipelines and ensure Unity compatibility.
