Alchemy is partnering with a prestigious Fine Art Shipping company seeking to expand their team with an experienced Crating Manager based in Sydney, Australia.

In this exciting role, the successful candidate will oversee the crate production and packing process, ensuring the safe transportation of paintings, artefacts, and other valuable objects for museums and institutions worldwide.
Please note that to be considered for this role, it is essential that you have fine art handling and packing experience working for a gallery, museum or auction house.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the operational, budgetary, and financial aspects of the crate shop, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead projects within the crate shop, actively participating in operations while mentoring and training staff.
  • Produce accurate estimates, factoring in time and materials for crating fine art and antiquities.
  • Oversee client relationships, both internal and external, with excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Handle museum objects and oversee standard crate construction.
  • Supervise artwork handling, interior fit-outs, and professional artwork packing.
Skills and qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in art crating, with a proven track record in team leadership and management.
  • Expertise in museum-standard crate construction, interior fit-outs, and the packing of artworks and objects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of crate design and packing for fine art, with hands-on involvement in all phases.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a track record of successful team management and growth.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing all duties required for the role.
  • Must have a clear police record for visa application purposes.
