Job summary

GSL Education in Essex is seeking an Art Cover Supervisor to support a secondary school in delivering engaging art lessons in the absence of the regular teacher. You will supervise classes, follow pre-planned schemes, and help students develop creativity and confidence.

You will maintain a positive, safe learning environment, manage behaviour, and liaise with teachers to ensure continuity of learning. Prior experience in a school setting and a genuine interest in art are desirable, and

• Desire to work in a secondary school setting and support art learning.
• Ability to supervise groups and follow lesson plans.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes during absence of the Art Teacher, ensuring students complete work.
• Support students in developing artistic skills, creativity and confidence.
• Deliver pre-planned lessons with clear instructions.
• Maintain a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment.
• Manage classroom behaviour following school policies.
• Encourage student participation and independent learning.
• Assist with art projects, drawing, painting and related activities.
• Ensure safe and responsible use of materials and equipment.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff as needed.
• Liaise with teachers to ensure continuity of learning.
• Support students with additional needs as appropriate.
